Frequently asked questions

Where are my photos stored? +
Exclusively on servers in Germany. We don't use any US cloud provider — no AWS, no Google Cloud. GDPR-compliant, no tricks.
Can I try Lumio? +
Yes, 14 days of full functionality. You add a payment method but are only charged after the trial ends. Cancel anytime from your studio.
What happens to my galleries if I cancel? +
You get a 60-day grace period after cancellation to export your data. Only then is it permanently deleted. Existing client galleries stay reachable during that time.
Does Lumio support RAW files? +
Yes — Canon CR3, Nikon NEF, Sony ARW, Fuji RAF and many more. Previews are generated server-side; the original stays untouched for the client download.
Can I self-host Lumio? +
Yes. Lumio's source code is public (source-available under the Functional Source License, FSL). You may freely self-host and modify it — privately, as a pro or as an agency. The only restriction: no competing SaaS offering. Two years after release every version automatically becomes Apache-2.0. Details at lumio-app.de.
How does billing work? +
Monthly via Stripe. Payment methods: credit card, SEPA direct debit, Sofort, Klarna. You receive a proper invoice with your studio name and VAT for your bookkeeping.
