Lumio
For wedding photographers

Hand over wedding photos — without USB sticks and WeTransfer theater.

A dedicated gallery per wedding, with your branding and your domain. The couple selects, guests take a look, downloads run cleanly. Without your data landing in a US cloud.

The typical wedding workflow

From shoot to handover in five steps.

1

Shoot the wedding

You do your thing — 800 to 2,000 images in RAW, plus video, plus behind-the-scenes.

2

Upload the pre-selection to Lumio

Direct-to-S3 upload: 2,000 images at 30 MB each are no drama. You keep working while the upload runs.

3

Hand the gallery to the couple

Private link with password protection, your domain (e.g. gallery.yourstudio.com), your branding.

4

The couple makes their selection

Likes, stars, comments right on the image. You see in real time which images are the favorites.

5

Export the final images

Selected images as a ZIP download, optionally watermarked. Originals for the couple, web versions for the guests.

What matters specifically for weddings

A gallery per wedding, your own branding

Every wedding gets its own gallery under your domain (e.g. gallery.yourstudio.com/anna-and-tim). Logo, colors, fonts — all yours.

Private link, password protection

Couple galleries aren't publicly indexable. Optionally with a password, optionally with an expiry date. Nobody stumbles onto your clients' wedding by accident.

Guest access without an account

Wedding guests should be able to view the images without registering. Lumio makes two separate links: one for the couple (rating, original download), one for guests (web resolution, optional download).

Selection instead of 1,500 images in the album

The couple marks favorites right in the gallery — likes, stars, comments. You see the selection in real time and turn it into your final album or print file.

GDPR and weddings

Compliant, without having to become a lawyer.

Servers in Germany (Hetzner), DPA supplied as standard, no data transfer to the US. The data processing rests on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract between you and the couple) — the most legally established basis.

Common questions from wedding photographers

How many weddings per year fit into which plan? +

Rule of thumb per wedding: ~800 images × 8 MB JPEG = about 6 GB. On the Solo plan (50 GB) that's around 8 weddings in active status in parallel. With gallery archiving (images stay available but don't count against active limits) far more is possible. The Studio plan (250 GB) is enough for ~40 weddings in parallel, Pro (1 TB) makes sense from ~150 weddings per year.

Can wedding guests access the gallery too? +

Yes. You can distinguish between a private couple link (with rating rights, highest resolution) and a public or semi-public guest link (web resolution, no ratings, optional download). Both stay separately controllable.

What happens to the gallery after the wedding? +

You control availability. By default galleries stay active as long as your account is active. But you can set an expiry (e.g. 6 months after handover) or archive galleries — archived galleries don't count against your active limit but stay accessible to you.

How do I handle the GDPR duties toward the wedding guests? +

You as the photographer are the controller under the GDPR; Lumio is the processor. You conclude the DPA electronically right in the studio (Art. 28(9) GDPR) and file it in your record of processing. Informing the guests about the photography is the couple's task (per prevailing opinion; individual legal advice is not part of this statement).

Can I put wedding films in the gallery too? +

Yes. Lumio does HLS streaming with adaptive bitrate — the couple can watch the film right in the gallery without a 4 GB download. A scrubbing preview is included too.

Is there a print shop for orders straight from the gallery? +

Yes. Your clients order prints, albums and wall art right from the gallery. The order goes to the lab you've connected (e.g. Prodigi or Gelato), which delivers directly to the client. You set products and prices yourself and keep the margin between sale and lab price.
